Common Man

From morning till evening,
toiling hard
sweating profusely,
yet for him all pleasures are barred

Earning to live life,
against all strife
he stands and strives,
for his loved one to thrive

Scorching heat or shivering cold,
gusty winds or thunder storms,
autumn breeze or rainy days,
every moment he is there to face

Joy and celebrations,
are destined for the affluent in mansions
Commoner: The uncouth human,
for him these are forbidden aspirations

His woeful plight,
always on guard, to check his might
no time for him to mourn and fright
for he will forgo to earn his bite

He burns the midnight oil,
he weeps silently in turmoil
never seeks to fight for his right,
he often chooses to be quiet

He is trussed with obligations,
so he walks boldly even in anguish or fear
human terror or nature’s catastrophe
he is always there to bear.
